Dave Dorman is a Founding Partner of Centerview Capital Technology. Prior to Centerview, Dave was Chairman and CEO of AT&T, the largest telecommunications company in the world. During his time at AT&T he led the company through a profound reinvention and transformation prior to completing the merger of AT&T Corp. and SBC Communications in November 2005. David joined AT&T as President in December 2000 and was named Chairman and Chief Executive Officer in November 2002.
Prior to Concert and AT&T, Dave was CEO and Chairman of Pacific Bell where he led an $11 billion business with 50,000 employees serving more than ten million households and one million business customers. As the youngest CEO ever of a Bell operating company, Dave helped eventually to facilitate its sale to SBC Communications.
Dave’s career in telecommunications began in 1981, following his early work in software development, technical sales and marketing, when he became the 55th employee of the then-fledgling long distance carrier now known as Sprint. By 1990, he became president of Sprint Business, with 10,000 employees, and grew the company’s revenues from $5 million to $4.5 billion.
Dave is currently Non-Executive Chairman of the Board of CVS Health Corporation and serves on the boards of Dell Technologies, Inc., PayPal Holdings, Inc., Yum! Brands, Inc. and the Georgia Tech Foundation. Dave was a board member of Motorola, Inc. since 2006, was elected Non-Executive Chairman of the Board in 2008 and retired from his board position in May of 2015. Dave also was a board member of Scientific Atlanta until the company was acquired by Cisco Systems in 2006.
David holds a BS in Industrial Management with High Honors from Georgia Tech.
